I see people abandoning others because they are too attached. The epitome of attachment is almost detachment. We are taught that nothing is permanent. Attachment is said to make us weak and dependent, but does it really?
So, we begin to see everything through these manufactured perceptions. When we find ourselves growing close to someone, we become alert. We start to fear being abandoned. We begin to calculate every possibility. Yet what we often arrive at is a sense of impossibility. And so, before someone can abandon us, we choose to abandon them first. We become despotic in our relationships.
A famous quote says, "I loved a flower so much that, instead of plucking it, I left it alone."
In the face of every impossibility, we forget that some possibilities still exist in the present moment. The heart beats only in this moment. We breathe only in this moment. The day will come when things find their own way forward. Until then, why should we be in such a hurry to direct the course of others?
Life is like a rose; beautiful petals accompanied by thorns. But focusing only on the thorns does an injustice to the flower. Abandonment leaves an intangible, quiet ache that blooms eternally within us.
